Gardens designed to look good today and even better over time

Garden Design & Planting

Gardens designed to thrive

Over the years I’ve seen trends come and go, but there’s no doubt we’re seeing an increase in demand for creative planting schemes. Everything from wild gardens to gravel gardens designed for low maintenance in our warming climate. I’ve also noticed that people are increasingly creative, possibly down to a rise in interest in shows like Chelsea – so it really is an exciting time to be working on garden design and planting schemes. Every garden we design is different and whether it's a small or large space, I always get a thrill when I see the transformation.

Regardless of whether your outdoor space is small or large, Dan and his team will transform your garden into your own personal sanctuary.

By blending creative garden design with thoughtful planting and knowledge of what will thrive in your soil type and garden orientation.

If you have a design or idea in mind, we will help you realise it. If you’re simply not sure what to do to make the most of your garden, we will advise and guide you through the process.

With over two decades of experience designing and planting gardens across Wiltshire and The Cotsolds, Dan has invaluable knowledge about the trees and plants that will thrive in your outdoor space.

Dan and his team create gardens of every description including wild gardens, ornamental gardens, gravel gardens, cottage gardens or gardens with more formal and traditional planting.

Along with traditional border planting, Dan and his team can build raised beds that are easy to access and ideal for growing flowers and vegetables.

Garden Landscaping

Superb finish guaranteed

We have so much experience working with natural stone, decking and other materials, and I believe what sets us apart is our dedication to delivering an outstanding finish. Our attention to detail is second to none. From cottage style stone walls to contemporary terrace or patio designs, our craftsmanship, knowledge of materials and expertise shines through in every project. Having our own tools and equipment helps as well, as I have full confidence in my highly trained team.

Driveways & Paths

Lifted paving or uneven tarmac not only looks unsightly but can contribute to unwanted trips or falls. Many clients opt gravel options which are great for security and also less likely to become icy or slippery in cold or wet weather. If you need a smooth surface for push chairs, wheelchairs or mobility scooters, we’re happy to discuss a range of options with you.

Paths not only add interest to a garden but are practical as well. They can open up a garden so that it can be enjoyed by everyone. Once we are clear what you want to use your pathway for, we can help you find the ideal surface that will suit your needs and garden perfectly.

Patios & Outdoor Terraces

Our professional team work with the full range of materials, including stone, brick, gravel, concrete and decking. All our patios and terraces sit on a completely flat and level sub-base, meaning you won’t have to worry about lifting slabs or uneven surfaces. A well laid terrace provides many years of outdoor enjoyment and can be like adding an outdoor room to your property.

Fencing, Decking, Walls & Stonework

Decking continues a very popular choice. We can lay every type of decking and add in hand rails or steps if needed.  We can provide fencing for your plot, however big or small, we always use the most robust, well-made fence panels that look great and are able to withstand the UK weather! We have plenty of experience building walls and working with a variety of different materials.  From country stone walling to high end, clean sleek lines, our craftmanship and expertise is second to none.  Whatever you imagine, we can create!

Flawless garden landscaping with impact

Natural stone walls, steps, curves and straight lines give this large space purpose and intent. Graphic use of grass, stone and gravel provide impact as well as linking different areas of the outside space together. As they mature, borders and planting will add height and interest to this stylish, but also practical outdoor space. Architectural designs like this, demand attention to detail and skills that come with years of working with stone, slabs and man made materials. Our flawless finish is something the whole team were proud to deliver.

Using zones to create a useable outdoor space

Every outdoor space, large or small, has the potential to be used more effectively. Use of zones and sections is a great way to make a smaller space feel larger and more useable. Each area is designed with a purpose in mind and by mixing stone with grass and gravel areas, this space feels balanced and welcoming, sitting easily in the beautiful landscape beyond. Zones are created using stone walls, raised beds, turf and gravel. Created with the care, precision and skill, that Dan Davies Landscaping is known for.

Hardscaping to create a sheltered terrace

This outdoor space now has the best of both worlds. A sheltered, private spot for entertaining and relaxing in, as well as a more traditional lawned garden area above it. The upper level of the garden is safely and easily accessed by a solid set of steps with secure handrail, that sits above a clear balustrade, for a light and airy feel. The balustrade is continued along the top edge of the garden, providing safety and shelter without compromising the view from the house or the upper level garden.
